Ecological surveys can be seasonally constrained; therefore it is essential to undertake surveys early in the process to avoid unnecessary delays. The diagram below provides guidance on the optimal survey periods for protected species most frequently found on development projects. However, professional advice is recommended as survey requirements vary between Sites and are unknown until the Preliminary Ecological Appraisal is undertaken.
